Thanks Quinn for breaking the ice! I have been wanting to post the same message for a while now, and I guess now is as good as time as any.

Trading seeds is a very fun way to spend the boring winter, but it has just become too much. I have mailed nearly 1100 bubbles (1096 to be exact) in the last 4 years. Many hours to stuff envelopes, and dollars in insufficient postage later, I'm burned out.

I would still like to donate to clubs if you would like my crosses.

Any growers that will plant my seeds can have them, all I ask is they actually get planted. I have had plenty of growers "promise" to grow them, but they never see dirt, so serious inquiries only. Most of my 2009 and earlier crosses have been depleted.

Sorry if this inconveniences anyone.

I dont blame you guys one bit. The thought of growers sending out a thousand bubbles just so they can stock pile seeds is a huge waste of time.
I asked 3 growers for seeds last year and all 3 got planted.

Amen to Quinn and Thad's decision to help stop the hoarding madness.

The Vermont Giant Vegetable Growers gave away over 1500 seeds at the Champlain Valley Fair this year to promote growing AGs and the 3rd annual Lake Champlain Giant Pumpkin Regatta.

Right now, I have so many great seeds after 3 years that I will never plant all of them before I die, even if I live to be a hundred(40 years from now).

I can't wait for new growers to say "where can I get seeds?"
so I can share my collection.

I grow 3-4 plants per season. I usually average 400 seeds per pumpkin. If you grow 6,8,or even 10 plants per year seeds tend to add up rather quickly.I fully understand where you are coming from Thad but if you don't send out 1100 bubbles, what are you going to do with all the seeds?

Sorry about the lack of reply's. I have been off of the computer for a while.

Also thanks to those who have shown understanding to my decision. Believe me it wasn't an easy choice to make, but I just don't have the time I used to.

To those who have emailed; I will get back to each and every one of you.

Thanks!

Thad
