First let me say it's very flattering and an honor to be hammered with seed requests.

However, I need everyone to realize that I will not deal with seeds at this time. I don't want to deal with seeds until December. In addition I DEAL WITH ALL HOPKINS SEEDS. Don't try to email John, call John...etc...etc....for seeds. Thank you.

I will accomodate clubs that need to have seeds on a more timely basis. Clubs / fundraisers come first. Assuming there are seeds remaining then I will start dealing with growers. I'd like to hope everyone that asks for a seed will plant the seed. I don't care for the following request: "Can I have 15 seeds for my 2 year old's uncle's cat's ant's, fish's cousin?" Lol.

Anyway you get the point. And it is not ok to call after 9:00 CST. LOL. Please keep in mind that if it's 8:00 at your house that doesn't mean it's 8:00 at my house.

Please honor this request for the time being and best wishes to all.

Chris

You have both my congratulations and my sympathy, Chris.

May you get through the next six months with grace and a sense of humor.

I do not envy being in your shoes.

I also hope everyone would take a moment to think, and be considerate.

Way to go though!

Assuming seed counts are favorable, the SCGA plans to host its "SCGA Seed Promo", a collection of SCGA member seeds that will be made to pumpkin growers for a reasonable price. When/if the promo packs become available, we will advertise on the front page of this website. As Chris stated, we dont expect any "seed activity" to transpire until December.

Good call, Chris. I often wonder how many people want a half dozen seeds from the biggest AGs grown each year, and then don't put in the time and care necessary to grow a world record.

Or worse yet, the seeds never see dirt.

When I become a champion grower, I will ask for champion quality seeds, and not until then.

Congratulations to you. Please share what you did to grow your WR sometime in the future.

VTSteve, Agreed 100%, when I e-mailed Charles Lieber I only asked to see pictures of 1610, because it is the largest Howard Dill awarded pumpkin ever.

I would not hit him up for seeds unless he ends up with a really high count, as of right now I do not think I could justice to such a seed.

I would have to wait until my house sells and I can buy more land at a minimum.

Genetics like that deserve at Least 500 square feet, and even then they still need expert growing methods to get the most out of them.

When you grow a monster pumpkin or a orange giant naturally you're gonna get people who wanna plant your seeds. I don't have that problem yet. You have to be aware that people are entitled to a personal life as well. Sending a bubble to someones home is okay so long as you write a letter describing who you are and your plans for the seed. The grower has every right to say no. Calling a person at work and getting their home number is just ignorant. While I understand wanting a seed, you have to use common courtesy and tact. The hobby has allowed me to meet some great people and we need to continue to keep this hobby friendly and approachable and respectful to others. Remember. Treat others the way you wanna be treated.

Is sending random bubbles to people who grow large pumpkins really a good thing? Why do people think they are entitled to growers seeds? Swapping seeds with friends or people you have emailed and chatted with is another story. Plenty of seeds are available through auctions and clubs. I personally think it's rude to get a bubble pack from someone I don't even know. Can you imagine how many random bubbles Chris will get?

mshy, sorta hit the nail on the head!!! Random bubbleopes...IMHO, there should be no such thing!!! A bubblie, should be packed full of stamps, and invited, not randomly sent!! This internet thing has allowed the random mailing & requesting of seeds!!! BP.com, will teach you better!!! Kudo's to Chris for his short & specific tutorial!!! Peace, Wayne
