Sandbagger, What is it? Definition: Generally, any Pumpkin Grower who misleads others about his growing season/Pumpkin, claiming to be doing worse than they actually are..
In attempting to deflect what is actually happening in the patch many growers over the years have come up with excellent diversionary comments to keep the competition off their trail. This year has been extraordinary !

First of all I need to acknowledge that the season isn't quite yet over. However, If someone does beat Chris I will have to re-award the unofficial Bagger trophy, Not sure that'll happen!
So, I hereby award the 1st annual Sandbagger of the Year award to Chris S (The S stands for Sandbagger) Stevens... An excellent Job growing not only the New World Record 1810.5 but keeping everyone in the dark nearly until the end!!
A compilation: (NOTE, These are not Chris's Quotes, Not all of them anyway!)
The season started off so bad that I had to use 7 ounce Budweiser Pony's for my 30 day pics to make the pumpkin look bigger,
I cut the first 18 inches off the tape measure so I didn't feel so small...
I was germinating my seeds in the oven and my kid turned it on..
"I had a tough spring with hail, Then the floods came. While the plants were floating around the raccoons came through, Chased by a herd of cows that trampled most all the main vines.
The SVB's swooped in, Lost all the stumps to foam and had to set all pollinations well into August on secondary's, Actually, come to think of it I only had one on a secondary. The rest were on Tertiary's !!

My old lady/man, well, She isn't a big fan of all the time I spend in the patch so I had to move the patch into the yard so I could hear nagging 24/7 Think that doesn't make a leaf wilt?
With the main vine rotting off in August, 80 mile an hour winds , More hail I just had to give up on my plants and let mother nature give me what she could..
Congrats Chris !

Any other's you've heard??

"On Monday I finally put the plants back in the patch. All the plants are way behind where I hoped they would be at this time but atleast they are alive, for now. It's almost June 1st and I still seedlings in the patch."

Congrats PA Punkin Pharmer, Kevin Snyder, 1,418 pounds at Doylestown and a new PB! Great job you SOB.

HandZ down to Barry Todd.....he fooled all COlorado growers pulling in 3 this year and to boot grew a new Colorado State record from his own 50 Todd seed....to 1308 beating out LongMont Petes record set only the week before at 1306. Barry had one at that weigh off too....and never let it be known that he had two more monsters left....
1067 weighed Saturday at Nicks weigh off taking 1st place...with the big on in back, he left for Half Moon Bay right after.....
He even had BiZ tape the whole event and staged his own stand in to bring his pumpkin to the event...this story goeZ on....lol
