Normally this isn't an issue, but this has been an unusually warm fall. Very warm days and warm nights are causing my two pumpkins in my garage to start to change colour and produce some soft spots. Usually it's a great deal cooler. They are sitting on two pallets each so they are off the ground. I really need them to survive till the 31st. The forecast looks warm and I'm getting a little worried. Any ideas how to keep them fresh? Moving them is not an option. Thanks Alan

Alan, don't know if it helps or is practical but for my eating pumpkins, winter squash and the like I give them a wash with either a h2o2 or bleach solution and then a dry wipe with a microfibre before winter storage to reduce the chance of surface molds. I can still have some squash to eat in April. Might work on the big guys too.

If you cant move them put a A/C unit in the garage like a window stlye it will keep cool during daytime.

I keep mine on the shade side (in the shade of) the garage outside. I cover during the day with a heavy comforter and uncover at night for the chilling effect. The comforter keeps it chilled during the day and reduces any evaporation.
