There is a few contests over here this year for growing potatoes in a bucket, total weight grown, number of potatoes in bucket, that sort of thing. Not that I am very competitive by nature but any ideas or experience on tricks and tips?

you can get grow bags for tators. I used this year and it looks like between 13-15 pounds per bag and you just dump out and save soil for next year.

You have to grow it in the bucket provided so that everyone is the same size.

I have never tried it, but have heard it works - start with half a bucket and as the plant grows fill up the bucket till the top. You should get two or more layers of potatoes and probably about twice the total weight.

If it is a black bucket, cover it with white paper to stop overheating in the sun.
