Show up anytime between 8 and 10 ish.....sign in and pay the 15 ( I think) bucks to join the Midwest giant pumpkin growers ass. and then weigh in your fruit.....a good time by all !!
Can't miss the place to to weigh in....it'son the far east end of main street...large blue building called the comm. center. make sure it's on a pallet for loading and unloading purposes. Generally you park in the front side of teh center and go in and pay then the line slowly flows around to the back for the weighing and unloading then the fruits are handjacked to the inside of the center for display. Fruits stay there until 4ish when they will be loaded for the trips back home. Parade holding the top four fruits starts usually promptly at 2:30. Hope this helps

Anamosa is on Highway 151, about 20 miles north-east of Cedar Rapids or 50 miles south-west of Dubuque. Take the exit by Walmart and the National Motorcycle Museum and go west just a few blocks. If your friend is coming in on I-80, take Highway 1 at Iowa City north to 151. From the east, Highway 64 will take you right to the community center.

$15 grower entry, $2 spectator entry. Get there early, as we usually get a huge crowd. Spectators that get there late may have to park on a side street and walk a few blocks. Main street will be shut down for all of the vendors. Plenty of activities for everyone. If you go to the chili cookoff, don't miss my daughter's entry. She has a special ingredient that I think you will like.
