to keep them dry and the pumpkin warm or will this cause some condensation problems? Has anyone done this before?

Yes, I've been doing it every day for a while now. No problems here.

Do you take it off during the day or just leave it on24/7?

I have been leaving the blankets on all day anymore now that we dipped below 70 degrees during the day.

Jim.....yes. It'z ok. Juzt take it off when the sun comez up. The tarp will keep the dew of the pumpkin which will keep it warmer at night, just make sure to take it off in the a.m. or you could cook it.......

Dipped below 70! Wow, lucky! I think we got up above 70 a few days in August. Anyway we use Celsius so you have to double and add 32 which only works in your favour when you go to buy a six pack.
More seriously, I cover with a little hoop green house thing covered with green house plastic and/or shade cloth all season, either for shade or warmth. Also I cover the fruit directly with a blanket on almost all evenings here to hold in the warmth. I am careful to remove the cover early in the day if there is any chance of condensation or moisture on the fruit so as to not encourage molds etc.
I also add a heater under the hoop house as soon as temps start to drop. Does anybody else put a heater/fan in the tent over their pumpkin. I figure keeping the temp up on the fruit helps even though the vines are cold. The circulation of air from the heater fan is beneficial for sure. Any thoughts?
Thanks

if the fruit i done growing?or even almost done growing? which most are by now in the season? id just keep um warm at night and uncovered in the day time.

once they have stopped growing completely (based on the tape ) i just cover with a sheet at night ( in case of frost )and let the fruit stay cool rather than hot.
heat on a pumpkin thats done growing will only promote earlier decay or make a suspect area worse in my opinion.

think of a piece of fruit or veggie from your garden. do they last better on the counter in a bowl or in the fridge?
