Go to the weighoffs link in the upper left corner of the BP.com home page. You will link with GPC sites for 2010. Click on the state of Ohio and then Barnesville.

Here is some more info, but it read 2008, so not sure how accurate .

*Festival keeps half the seeds from the winner after it has been displayed. Time : 6:00pm. All pumpkins stay until 4:00pm Sunday after festival is over.

ahhhhh its not that bad Jimmy!!,,lol,,

they use the seeds to help raise money for the following years weigh off, the prize money.

Its a Great way to get a seed grown, if people are buying them they will more then likely grow them,, well maybe not, I have bought a few I haven't grown yet,,,LOL

I just copied and pasted everything that was there. The last sentence does say that the festival keeps half the seeds from the winner.
You are correct though, I believe any gpc event keeps half the seeds from any pumpkin that gets weighed.

Zappa, GPC dont keep the seeds, its the Barnesville festival that keeps half the seeds and then sells them. Kinda like a club does when ever you grow a pumpkin, you give them seeds from your pumpkin to sell to help your club.

They sell them cheap too, something like 15 to 20 bucks for 3 seeds from the King pumpkin is the most I have ever seen them sell for, not bad really comparing to what non proven seeds sell for now a days at auctions and for club fund raisers.
