I know Dale Marshall weighed in a 21.5% heavy pumpkin off the 1544 Revier and I want to give other growers hope that this was not a onetime event.

I just harvested a 1544 Reiver offspring that was taping 629 BUT weighed 827lbs at the Woodstock Fair. That is 23.9% heavy! So, this could be a seed to watch for heavy;-)

Congrats on that Matt. My math has it at 31.48% heavy if it taped 629...even better!

I've got a 1544 the vine Matt that is taping about 740...30 percent heavy would be OH so nice. We'll see.

This pumpkin was off the 1544 as well(bes ended her),,,est around 350,,,did'nt weigh it but this had the thickest walls I've seen,,,8-12 inches so I guess it was over 20% heavy as well,,,,

I will have to do a retape on the pallet but all my pumpkins get the same consistent tapings so I do not think it will be off by much, if at all. 31% heavy does seem way out of the norm even though it was a 'small' pumpkin based on volume.

This is why we weigh them!
