Ok this is a newb question but I have had a sheet covering the pumpkin for the last month or so to keep the sun off of it, I take the sheet off in the evenings to let it get some fresh air and when I water the pumpkin overhead. My question is now that it's late in the season and my pumpkins still a pale yellow color and now getting a little scab/ rough texture should I keep it covered or let it ripen in the sun to get some color ? BTW its not a big one but its a PR 200-250 lbs !

If its still growing keep it covered..If its done growing giver her some sun.
Getting a sound pumpkin at the end of your 1st season is a good accomplishment..

once you get to the cooler days in sept its acceptable to leave the fruit uncovered during daylite to help natural color.
