John is flexing his orange muscles early this year with his 1,095 pound beauty on display this week at the Great Allentown Fair in PA.
As an added novelty John turned this orange pumpkin on it's blossom end and grew it Cinderella style- this is the first pumpkin over 1,000 pounds grown this way that I know of.
The pumpkin was 167 inches in cicumference and was grown off the 770.5 Eddy Z (511 x 898). I will try and post a pic in my diary.
This is the first of many orange giants that the inaugural members of the MAGPG have to offer in 2010! We hope to see many of you at the Monster Pumpkin Madness weighoff on Oct. 9.

Does that mean it would have been 167 inches side to side if grown traditionally?!

I'm working on the pic. It was on the news but not on the news channel website. John should be sending me one.

This is what 300 lbs (I think) looks like Cinderella style. It measures 100" in circumference.

I would love to see the 167" picture too.

Congrats John !!
The 1095 must have gone heavy for the charts -
Len Stellpflug was over today and we measured mine (which is growing more on the stem end) with an estimated weight of 1070 pounds on a 168.5 inch circumference. It is from a Nesbitt 1229. I have a 2nd pumpkin growing on the plant which is around 600 pounds. I tried to post a picture of it earlier this year but some reason, it never shows on the diary.
