If i were to cut my biggest one on october 3rd to take it to a weigh off will it last till halloween. If it's questionable i dont want to risk it,its more important for me to carve it for halloween that enter it in the weigh off. I can wait and grow one just for the weigh off next year.... THANKS

seems to me you ought to be able to have the best of both those worlds in the right conditions. I would be willing to bet that most people that cut for beginning of october weighoffs have pumpkins still standing for halloween. i had one that quit growing last year about this time and it lasted for halloween carving.

Don't carve it right away. Keep it out of the sun and it will last. I cut mine and it was displayed for halloween.

"Normal" Pumpkins easily for a month if you don't carve them. AND I've seen AG's Display locally (uncarved) for 2 months on several occasions. I think you should be safe.

If the pumpkin is good and solid it should last if you cut if for the October weigh offs, but if its stopped growing and beginning to rot inside it could go down. There is no 100% guarantee either way. My brother has grown many state and county fair pumpkins for August weigh offs that have lasted until Halloween, but we have had pumpkins we cut in October that didnt make it...If it was me, I'd go for the weigh off, the odds are in your favor. Good Luck
