My great aunt called all concerned; a meteorologist for Cleveland Channel 5 was growing giant pumpkins and going to break the world record!! She told me to go "check out his blog"!! Turns out it isn't the ACTUAL meteorologist who is growing. He is following a "northern ohio" grower through the season. I obviously thought it was Terry Nose but the overhead patch shot has me 2nd guessing. Then again I missed the tour and didn't see his patch this year. It normally isn't surrounded by trees. Hmmmmmmm. Everyone loves a good mystery but I'd rather know now who Mark is talking about now (it would be more fun that way hahaha)! :)

Thats a big pumpkin at 1200 but I know of quite a few others that are at or over 1400. Imagine if those can hold together.

hmmmm... thanks for sharing Christy. This is the first I've heard of this as well.
I'm with you, I enjoy a good mystery as well, but sure would like a heads up too :D Guess we'll have to super sleuth it, they know better than to keep these things from us :D

That particular grower may not reveal himself. He has intermittent internet access and has tried to stay as anonymous as possible. Who knows, he may respond.

PS I guess they've talked about these pumpkins every night on the news for the past week or so; I think that is great exposure for giant pumpkins! (so I think this is a good thing if you are reading me wrong here).

Ain't me,,lol,, I dont have much of any bragger pumpkins this year really, they started off really good and then faded fast,,lol!!,, All 5 of my pumpkins are over 1000 lbs but not by much and putting on the weight SLOW now.
I have had a huge problem this year with Rhizoctonia Solani
but on a good note haven't lost very many stumps this year, I did lose 1 stump on my biggest prospect growing at day 40, but other then that not much bragging rights from my patch this year,,,, I sound like one of my best buds Dan Carlson dont I?,,LOL

Christy knows I would tell her if I had a biggie growing,,lol

Ya Christy the way the pumpkin was growing it would have hit 1500 maybe but I dont think a new WR. It will be fun to watch the weigh-offs this year.

Martin, everyone of my pumpkins was at 1500lb pace untill after day 40,,lol.
The Landry charts get you excited to early in this hobby for sure, but the question is will it continue that pace at day 50 and 60,, thats the days I really need to work on for a steady big gain, just cant seem to do it yet,

Christy, I sent out the 2nd recon battalion this morning. they'll have the intel by the end of the day. I seriously doubt it is bigger than your pumpkin was though. :)
