4 weeks till the first weigh off..Growth rates are slowing, Chemicals and stress are very visible on the plants and growers.. Was that brown spot there yesterday?? Is that a mouse hole under my pumpkin?? Is there an earlier weigh off?? Is that a soft spot?? Like being above 26,000 ft on Everest, can only stay here so long..Best of luck to everyone.....

Gone are the days of posts announcing that so and so has shattered the 10 day benchmark, on their way to 1600lbs per the 20 day benchmark, can you believe what I measured on the 30 day benchmark. The number of growers actively updating their diaries becomes disturbingly low, as the amount of growers who are able to keep one alive until weighoff time dips lower. If you still have a pumpkin on the vine, no matter the size, stand tall and proud. You have accomplished what many could not. Best of luck to all.

Yeah boy, you said it real good orangeneck. This is my first year of trying to be a little serious about it and I think I'm more nervous than a hen at a rooster convention. My largest is just a little over 500 on the charts which seems huge to me. It had some real growing pains and a little rift that showed some mold but I think it is OK. My back up is a little under 300. Our little local fair is still over 3 weeks away. I hope my heart can take it. It cost 2 deer and 1 rabbit their life so it had better make it. Make it or not, I learned a lot, mostly from all of you kind (and a little crazy) folks. And I got a couple of big old pumpkins in the yard to impress the kids and simple folk. It's all been good fun. Good luck to everyone.

I'm looking at a patch that will need plenty of weeding and ammendments.
