The raised vines leeding to and from my pumpkin are driping a cloudy looking "blood" at every joint. The blood hardens to a gel on ground. Almost every leave on the plant is wilting and dying the past two days. Not sure if this thing is sucking the life out of the plant or what. I have another plant right across from this one with no damage what so ever. The pumpkin is still growing and the weight in is tomorrow. Just wondering if I should cut this thing now or wait until morning. The drips and small splits around the joints are slowly working up toward the pumpkin. I'm just hoping this thing isn't going through some kind of massive groth spurt or what. I just can't have a problem with 24 hours left to go. I used a new fertilizer last week and maybe that kicked it off.

It's not a massive growth spurt, it is dying. One more day on the vine isn't gonna hurt. Lucky your weigh off is tomorrow! Best of luck, let us know how she does.

Thank you 1320. I wonder if the drops Im seeing are coming back from the pumpkin or coming up the vine from the plant. 14 hours until she gets loaded up.

Likely the drips originate at the stump and travel forward. If you don't mind, why don't you cut the stump open sometime tomorrow after your weigh off. Would be insteresting to see if there's anything funky going on in there. Perhaps disect the vine either side of the drips too, might give us an idea if there's actually something on inside the vine. You'd be looking for discoloration, foul smell....

Rich , it will be fine. You have a bacterial infection I believe. Look at this post I put on here 2 weeks ago. I ended up cutting my main right before my pumpkin so it didn't spread into it. It is nasty, that is for sure !!
I still have the main out in front of the fruit attached.

As 1320 said it is most likely like mine, ( vines are basically rotting from the inside out ).

Good luck at the weigh off !

Dont sound good...had the same thing happen here, check your stump. Youre lucky your weigh off is today..cuz it will enter the pumpkin and start to rot.
