Hi, please see link below. I cut my pumpkin today since I noticed these green patches up top by the stem. They are under the skin and don't rub off like mold. I hit it with bleach water anyway.
This was a generic Lowes seed so maybe that has something to do with it? It has not been wet for any long periods at all. Thanks

Looks like genetic discoloring to me.

looks ok to me, if its not getting soft in those areas you should be OK,,, your best chance for that pumpkin making it untill October would have been leaving it hooked up to the vine even if its not growing, also keeping any moisture away from the pumpkin and shading it (cover).

I would agree with genetics..wipe it every few days with a bleach solution...keep it out of the sun and off the concrete

Thanks for the input guys. Even if it doen't last it's not a total loss. I still had fun growing them and have one left on the plant. I already bought one of Don's books to read over winter and am looking forward to using proven seeds next year.

Luke ,thats normal color coming up from the fruit maturing. The best indicator if your pumpkin is in trouble is if it stops growing(getting inches on its frame)Thats why its a good idea to measure it with a tape on a regular basis
