what are the main reasons females shrivell up and die 1 or 2 days before pollination,, lost 2 different females in the last couple of days.. ,... quit ferts when they appeared .. just watered.. then,, they just pruned and blossoms died.. thanks,, any idea's and suggestions are welcome.. curt

-Keep dirt off the pumpkin.
-Quit using any fertilizers a week before the pumpkin even shows up.
-It could be a problem with the soil, maybe to high in nitrogen.
-Shade the pumpkin even before it opens, because the sun will cook the pumpkin. Maybe put ice around it if your crazy enough to. lol

What are your temps? I have noticed lots of dry ups where the actual flower bindings open or come apart and dry up the lobes on super hot days. Shade and an occasional fan if you have one.

the temps last week was mid 70's fer highs.. low 50's.. they are shaded.. thanks fer the responces

Hey, Curt, the another thing that can do this is if you get a little drift from Roundup. If that's the case, your plant will have exhibited other symptoms as well (white leaf margins). Not sure if you use Roundup or not, just thought I'd throw it out there.

thanks.. Neal.. only time i use it is in the fall,, to hit weeds before,, i add manure and compost,, do u think there mite be some carry over?,,
