Gad's season is over !......and I have a 200# baby with 60 days to go....

I asked in a thread "whats the best case grow for a generic AG?....
and Gad's replied

If your growing generic seeds you probably dont have the soil, skills, experience that it takes to grow a monster so the pumpkin weight wont be that great. If you have the skills and ability you would be growing proven world class seeds.-Gad's
I thought it a little rude ...but let it slide

Damn Gads , aint Karma a B!t@# !

I definitely understand why you were originally upset. But people put a lot of time and effort into this, which you may or may not know at this point I really can't say. We are a fairly small group of enthusiests and should all be in support of each other. This post is inappropriate. You face the risk of growing with generic seeds for the rest of your life with posts like this.

Totally uncalled for. I do agree that Gad's comments to you were wrong, but 2 wrongs don't make a right. You should've taken the high road, instead you sunk to a lower level.

I see how you can take his comment offensive as I am growing a Lowes seed right now, but that is harsh. That is months worth of work you are laughing at over one comment. Funny you mention Karma...

Punkinologist,

I think you might be reading too much into what Gads said like it was an insult. I read that post back when he first said it and I didn't see it that way. Gads post could have been written to me and it would make sense. I have been growing generic seeds the last 2 seasons and I don't have the skills, soil experience to grow a big one. If I did have the skills, soil, experience I would make sure I had better seeds. That doesn't mean I'm an idiot. I just haven't learned all I need to yet. I think it wasn't a jab at you.

BTW I do have great seeds for this year and future years but I still don't have the experience to match.

We're all here because this is something unique that we truly like to do. This is also my first year and I've made a lot of friends here who have helped me out when I've needed them. Everyone here I've delt with is class A in my book so just take it in stride man...Water on a duck man...just let it roll off you and have fun with it!!
Keep it growin and god bless :)

LoL- this is a good one. Not taking sides here but most people not only put a lot of time into this "hobby" but also a lot of cash. If you continue to grow and have a nice one going and then lose it- it sucks big time. Well, best of luck to both of you.

I'd have to agree that hitting someone that is down is not the way to do things - Especially posting it on a Forum - could easily have just sent a PM to him to remind of the comment and how Karma usually goes around but if you truly believe that then why tempt it making a complete circle !

yea not cool,in all my years being on this site Your the first person ever see laugh and be happy about someone else losing a pumpkin,, joke or not, even if it was a joke thats hitting way below the belt there.
all that work and high expectations and excitement of knowing you have a big one growing,, and then its gone in a instant. Never would I, or anyone that I know on this bp site be happy or joke about someone losing a big one.
Sorry to hear about that Rock, you been growing your butt off for many years and always bad luck hits you for some reason or not, but you keep on growing them no matter what happens the year before.. you dont give up ever is the amazing part,,, you will get your luck one year Rock, if you keep growing like you do every year its bound to happen. Sorry to hear ole bud.

Im really hoping you have a sandbagged pumpkin this dude dont know about, now that would be funny, espically throwing it back into his face saying,, ''ohhh looky what I got here,,,, another BIG one,, hmm wonder where that come from?''...

I think Rock will be the one getting the last laugh on about this post.

Gads was a bit harsh, but your skin should be more like your pumper, Thick, Pliable, and wiped clean often.

Alot can happen in 60 days.
If I was going to trash a grower when he's down, or laugh at a grower's lost effort at this once a year, make or break, hobby/lifestyle, I'd wait til after I made it to scale.

Of Course I wouldn't wack another grower.

It's BAD Karma.

Ouuuuu!?! Has the curse been laid for next year???

Good Luck All!!

guys, that was 2 month ago when Gads welcomed me to the forum with that post. I did not sit here and stew for 2 months , I forgot all about it , till I was checking diaries and saw Gads 8/5/10 entry

ive lost 6 out of 7 plants , and my stump is almost gone, and i have worked my butt off , but at the end of the day I'm still happy with no regrets . People ask me all the time "can you eat'em?", why are you growing thse"? ...I reply "for the glory"!
when i talk with friends about all the work/$$ i put in ,and then I tell them a month later " ive ripped them all up" we usually have a chuckle and say there's always next year
they laugh at me and I laugh at myself...
my apology to Gad's

Team, Its all good and I stand by my origional statement about growing generic seeds and trying to grow a world class fruit. My loss is a perfect example of the point I was trying to demonstrate. I had world class genetics with rental property 1st year soil. The comparison was Joe Blow seeds with 1st year soil or even amended soil. My comments were not ment to offend but rather to educate. We had 100's of hours in prep and plant nurturing with quality genetics. Our soil conditions were less than optimal and we lost it all. I was trying to say that if you have seasoned soil then plant great seeds they are readily avaible. Pumpkinologist I have many great seeds I will give you.

Have fun slaving fellow growers, Dani and I are taking the rest of the season off to cruise the Puget sound and catch salmon on our boat!

PS sometimes emails and posts get misinterperted (Sp).
