When should the pumpkin start to crackle and have a cantaloped texture to the exterior of the skin. I forget what happened last year at this time with my last pumpkin. Does anyone have the pumpkins starting to show signs of cantaloping?

I have a green squash that is already 70% cantalouped.

I'm getting small dry cantalouping-like marks near the stem. I hope that isn't a sign that the skin is hardening enough that it won't be able to grow without splitting.
