Subject: crack starting at pumpkin near stem

I am a new grower and don't know what, or if anything to I can do with a small crack starting on the pumpkin at the edge of the stem.I am going to loose it ?? its 19 days old,232lbs, gaining 20 lbs a day.

1st thing to do is make sure that you vine has some slack on the stem.
Pictures will help someone answer your question.

If it is like this, it will be ok if you keep it dry (like with a fan) and keep fungicide on it (if it doesn't get deep) http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=137735
If it is like this you need to split the stem to relieve the pressure. ONLY DO THIS if it is splitting and make sure you understand the whole procedure before proceeding. Asking in the chat room is a good way to make sure you get your questions answered so you can do it correctly.
