I dont know about you guys, but I haven't seen a storm like I did today for a long time, wind was est at 75 miles an hour, and the lightning was hitting everywhere, it even seemed it was striking in the same place twice,,LOL.
I had some damage, but mostly a bunch of broken leaves, , All of my corn stalks are rooted really deep and instead of them being up rooted by the high winds, the winds broke the 3 to 4 inch thick stalks in half! But lucky for me my patch isnt a total disaster and was saved mostly by my corn , I gotta say It sure did its job as a great wind break, and that is one of the main reasons I grow it.
How did all you guys fair threw that wicked storm that went through your states today? , Last I seen it was heading towards PA and NY around 600pm or so. And it looks like another storm one will be hitting in a couple hrs.

The wind during round one knocked over several leaves and dumped two inches. The first phase of round two produced an inch of rain, but spared the wind. The second phase of round two is occurring now and the wind ferocious. Two days of plant recovery time is in order. If splits are going to occur, they should happen within the next couple of dry days.

my plant survived round one. The temparairy shade tent didnt make it. I was gonna build I better one friday but have been forced into doing it tomaroww. Round two is going on right now, we will see what will happen come mourning. I am worried about splits because my 15 day old pumpkin was still going along good anyway.

Brooks, got hit once in the a.m and once in the p.m. yesterday. Wind, rain and hail, not a good combo for growing pumpkins. Bodene was right, growing pumpkins is a very humbling hobby.

The afternoon storms got me, luckily it only affected the plant that has the stem split pumpkin on it. lost about 20% of leaves on that one.

A butt load of rain but no winds here. Think we got a little over 1" of rain. All this in one day resulted in many small vine splits and an overnight growth of 5" to the length of the marrow.

We had 2 good blasts. Tree limbs down everywhere but I only lost about 15 leaves. Blew so hard it blew over my rain gauge, so I don't know how much rain, but looking at the pond and how wet the dirt is, I'd say at least 2 inches. I agree with you giantpumkindude, I will be on pins and needles for the next 2 or 3 days. Good Luck.

Send some of that rain my way. I seem to be living in a drought island. Storms all around but they all pass me by. Have only gotten a tenth of an inch for the last 2 1/2 weeks!

how about 5.6 inches of rain in 3 hours on tuesday morning then another 1.5 inches the next day along with 50-60 mph winds in the wednesday storm. that storm that hit you brooks started here and was the coolest wall clound i have ever seen and i have seen 5 this year with events of 50-70 mph winds in all 5. luckily i am tucked in a subdivision with many tall trees in surrounding neighbors yards. with a 6 foot fence and the house surrounding the patch. i get buffered by the winds pretty nice. the worst are the down drafts from rolling microbursts. nothing stops that downward and backwards wind as basically the sidways tornado rolls on through. been the stormiest year yet, but with no hail luckily...yet that is anyways. lol.
