Is it normal for your older leafs to die and spread down the vine?

Yes, the oldest leaves die back as the season progresses, directing more energy toward the new growth. Best thing is to keep the old leaves trimmed back to keep the plant healthy. I'm not sure what you mean by "spreading down the vine", though.

If it spreads down the vine you might want to check for squash vine bores. Look for small holes on the vine or leafs that have died.
