when all your vines are burried, your prize pumpkin is selected and it's growing tons every day? It seems to me that tending to the plant as it grew was more fun that watching a giant grow. There seemed to be more change every day than now. Don't get me wrong, watching the fruit putting on weight is neet but kind've boring.

I'm speechless, two months to go, you say you have a winner and you're bored? I don't get it. Someone please fill me in.

It just seems that all that's left is watering, fertilizing, weeding and waiting :)

What would that be? I live in Canada so everything freezes under the 5-8 feet of snow we get, should I still consider a winter crop (or a fall crop before it freezes). I am looking at automating the watering process. My 2 gallon watering can process is time consuming :)

I'm on the same page as the Biz. I've already started working on next years patch prep in getting the soil conditions just right and a lot of reading up on books and diary info to help me out for next year. Just gotta be patient...remember...a watched pot never boils!

Make the garden look pretty...no weeds ect. Stand around and brag to your friends? LOL
Go out and measure it every 10 minutes. :)

I install clocked listening devices in the garden so I can measure the precise time when the pumpkin blew up on me. Boy oh boy is that entertaining.

We are still burying and pruning. I would love to have the time to just sit back and wait. We have had a cool summer. This week highs in the mid 70's so our growth is slow and steady.

I'm starting to dig my extension so I have enough room for 4 instead of 2. I'm upgrading my Tea brewer. I'm spending time researching where to get my products for next year. Spending time trying to figure out the things that I did wrong and want to do differently next year. I am still spending 4 hours a day and enjoying every minute! Definitely not BORED!

Spend time with your family and watch it grow.
