I'm always hesitant to cut any leaves unless they are in the way or going to rub the pumpkin as it grows but this year I have noticed something differant.
When do most of you, trim the leaves on either side of the pumpkin on the portion of the vine that is raised above the ground in front of and behind the pumpkin?
The reason I ask is that today, I noticed that with a little wind, these elevated leaves on the elevated vine actually made the main vine move a little bit which worried me that it could cause stress to the vine or stem of the pumpkin.
What do most of you do and how many leaves on either side of the fruit should be trimmed off?
Thanks/Glenn

Personally I would trim the leaves off the vine on the elevated portion if I seen the vine moving or twisting in the wind. This will also aid in access to the fruit. Good luck!

Maybe that is how that small crack between the stem and vine got there. And it was right after we had a storm. Thanks Glenn for the heads-up.
