Been a tough season for Dani & I so far; planting in a tilled up 10 year old plot of a rental back yard with minimal top soil. Just wondering if other "wet side" growers are havining any success in this crazy weather pattern we have been having? We are way behind past seasons from the east side of the state... Have'nt seen much action from PNW growers on this website to compare too...

Gerry, we're not as good as we have been in the past but not our worst year either. Plently of growing time left but it would be nice if the weather was warmer especially at night! We are thankful we haven't been getting the extreme heat that many parts of the US have. We have a few between basketball - beach ball size so we are still in the race. Many late pollinations too, though! Sherry

Same here...a couple of weeks behind but have one pollinated July 5th and the other 10 days later on the 15th.
Slow start but do we ever have the nice weather in the PNW now.....has not been a drop of rain in over a month and the long term forcast is for more sunny and dry...also hoping we get our Indian Summer (sorry is that First Nations summer) and that September is good growing as usual for these parts.

Cool!
Thanks PNW team, I was thinking maybe there is a special "Hoo-Doo" dance or something that you have to do over here to get the punkins to shift from the vine to fruit growth stage!

I had a disastrous May. Late may freezes and excessive rain for three months either drwoned or froze all my plants but a few. I pulled most in mid June that had zero growth for about six weeks. I startede over with several plants in mid June including the 823 Gadberry. (not pollinated yet) One of my original survivors was the 611 Gadberry.(tough plant) Pollinated it on July 21. We have had great weather during the day for the last couple of weeks so I am starting to get some decent plant growth. Still ow to mid 50's at night. I am at about 750 ft elevation unlike Barker, Pugh and Holland who are basically down at seal level. Most plants look now like they should have a month a go; so it's safe to say I'm a good month behind. Probably no personal best this year(851) . I'm hoping to still beat 500 pounds with a decent August and September.
