How long do you wait to totally remove a pumpkin on a plant after cutting a v-wedge?
I cut one this morning to give all energy to my bigger one on the main vine. Down to 1 pumpkin on 1 plant; cards are all in!

I think a v wedge is what you slide under the door to keep it open, only he's using it as a chisel to chip small pieces of it away at a time. (joking)

I usually will cut a notch half way thru the stem one day, then all of the way thru the next and remove the cull. If the chosen fruit is really growing fast, I will cut two notches (over two days) to slow down the transition to a single fruit. I have never seen it, but have heard from enough growers that if you transition to a single fruit too quickly it could blow it up.

I think it is what you use on the golf course to get through the geese by the waterhole.. you know how they fly in a "V"

I just cut them off all at once. But I have heard some folks taking 2-3 days to do it. I have not had to cut anyoff since I have been aborting all season as well. I finally ahve some sets now from my july 16th pollinations. Brooks, Team Pumpkin feels your pain!

Luke, don't ever let the clownin get ya down...all these Clowns are truly...very fine folks...I think??? You are correct to cut a cull, if it is large, on a gradual basis!!! 1/3 per day, till it's done!! Prbly want to apply some type of fungicide to that cut also!!! Too much in one day, could blow up yer keeper!!! Might want to name it V-Wedge!!! Best of luck!!! Grow em Big!!!! Peace, Wayne

I don't understand whats the point of this whole process. Whats the main reason? Cutting one off on the same vine all at once send a surge of ____ to the other?

send a surge of _____? you know, what was once going to the cull starts going to the growing one... I suppose that the tap is shut off would give the juice the only option of going the other way.
