My old nemesis powdery mildew is once again attempting to raise its nasty head. So I looked into a new idea for fighting this old foe. My daconil woks somewhat and I thought it would work much better if I got better coverage. The spray from my sprayer is just too spotty. I cant afford a real mist blower and after some digging around here I found myself out in the patch with my sprayer tank slung over my shoulder, my electric (yes electric) leaf blower in one hand, the spray wand in the other and a respirator stuck to my face. After determining that this method warranted further investment of time and money (zip ties, ect) I finished spraying my patch and as I turned to walk through the gate the thought occurred to me. If the wrong person saw this I might end up as part of Jeff Foxworthys next edition of "you might be a red neck if"

I'm sure they could come up with a "here's your sign" on that one too. Hey, if it works, then do it.

Oh "thanks"
I am sure i looked comical. I will work on making it look and function more like a prototype than a hillbilly special. I have seen some of the propane powered ones for sale but they dont seem to get much praise here so i have note even wasted my money on one. It would be nice if I could find a sprayer that turned the spray into a fine mist like a windex bottle does only on a larger scale. And of course not cost a fortune as i am both broke and cheap.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing. My thought is tape the sprayer wand to the blower tube where the end is just past the blower output. Set the blower to stay on and press the trigger on the wand when I want to dispense product. i haven't actually set it aall up yet. how did it work for you?

You quoted Foxworthy and it reminded me of the rest of the tour including Bill. Relax, I use a 6 dollar hand sprayer.

Good luck and hope it works out.

Hey Hapdad you are on theright track! And close to a solution. Take the next step and drill a hole in the blower tube about 2" from the end, and insert the tip of your sprayer on an angle so the tip points outward. The preasure from the blower will create a vacuum and suck the liquid out of the tank. Thus making it a nice mister And with the sprayer on your back,or shoulder,it makes it easy to carry around. It worked for me, this way it will move the leaves and get in under the canopy.

Someone beat you guys to it as I purchased this unit from Rittenhouse two years ago for 70 bucks and its great and works to about 90% of the efficiency of the big buck sprayers.

Well I surfed this site to find out if anyone had used a leaf blower/ hand sprayer as a makeshift mistblower and found a few posts on it. this one described it fairly well (http://www.bigpumpkins.com/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=40409) and I thought I would give it a try. The product is atomized into a fine mist and you can control the amount fairly easily. you can see the mist being dispensed in the direction of the air discharge. I dont know how far it travels as some of the product is likely atomized to a fine enough mist that it is not readily visible. It will take some experimentation to get the setup optimized but it will work well. I realized how red neck it must look to not even have the wand attached to the leaf blower. And got a laugh out of how ridiculous i must have looked.
