I have a pumpkin that I have commited to that is about 50+ pounds or so. I'm wondering if I should have straps or something burried under it before it gets to big and I can still set something up. I saw that some people set pallets underneath before it takes off but that was not an option. Any suggestions please? My uncle will be lifting the pumpkin with a backhoe if that changes anything.

I put down some dupont landscaping paper and about 6 inches of sand over the paper and thats underneath the pumpkin. I did that when it was smaller. Wasn't sure if I should set something up for the lifting though. Just hope it even gets big enough to have to lift it. My uncle owns a construction co is the best equipment operator I've seen, he's just never lifted a pumpkin before.
