21-25 inch circumference is a good place to be on day 10 for a huge pumpkin ! so something less than that would be good for your 500 lber! but still maybe 15-20 cir!

Is the circumference measurement we are talking about here around the stem to flower end measurement or around the waist the other way? Thanks

My first year growing A.G.s competitively, my pumpkin had a 16.5" circ. at day 10. It ended up weighing 615 lbs.

Cucurbita, the answer to your question is yes. You wouldn't be able to get a CC once the pumkin gets too big. Flatter longer pumpkins tend to have a higher CC in the beginning, but does not mean they have as much actual mass as compared to a sphere shaped pumpkin that is much taller but a smaller CC. I was at 43.5 inches at day 10, but I have a flat torpedo that will be a bench at best.

I have 38CC on one of mine, my pb is 237, small , but thats what I got to beat this year and if it keeps growing like it is I should have no problem.

Last year I pollinated one on July 14th that only measured 14.5 inches circ. on day 11. I thought it was going to abort it was growing so slow. By August 25th it was taping 505 lbs.

I should add it was pollinated on July 20. It just kept steady gains until the late Sept. weighoff.

Russ Landry's 2008 OTT Benchmark Study, reads 27" at day 10 for 1.2K#. 23.5" is the mark for 700 to 799. That is as small as Russ's chart goes!!! Richard B. only 2" under the "Largest Recorded" for day 10!!! Grow em BIG!!! Peace, Wayne
