Anyone ever drive a 1.25 well point in the New England areaor anywhere? Just looking for any advise before I start pounding a pipe into the ground.
Thanks

we tried a well point a couple years ago and all we accomplished was breaking the pipe off from all the sledge hammering. we had our club muscle man freddie mack driving the hammer and " THATS ALL SHE WROTE "

We use a T post fence pounder to drive well pipes in. Much easier, safer and less damage than a sledge hammer.

I just drove one last year here in southern NJ. I hit water at 19 feet and then drove another 4 feet to make sure the screen was fully in the water. Do not, I repeat, do not use a sledge hammer! I bought a post hole driver from Northern to drive mine and that combined with the driving caps worked for me. My son (13 at the time) were able to drive the well in a weekend. It went pretty smoothly until I hit some clay at about 14-15 feet that was at least 2-3 feet thick. After that it was smooth sailing.

Northern tool has stainless well points for 50 bucks was going to try it. I'm about 50 yards from a rive and have sand at about 4 feet so I'm hoping I should hit water around 15 or so feet. I was also told to put the driving cap on a small piece of pipe then threat it on to make sure the thread on the actual pipe are not beat to a pulp.

What did you finally use for a pump? Was thinking of a hand pump to get rid of the sand and silt then switch over to a shallow well pump.

5150, Once I got down a good ways (over 10 feet) I used a hand pump to test for water every 2 feet. After I got to my final depth I used the hand pump to clarify the well and get the grit out. After that I put a jet pump on the pipe. I was thinking of driving another one in the back yard and leaving the hand pump attached.
Actually now that you mention it I did use a small piece of pipe with a driving cap on top of the actual pipe. If you decide to go ahead and drive the well point make sure you have a bunch of friends over so you can all take turns, otherwise you will be sore for quite awhile ( I know I was!).

Also,I suggest putting a check valve between the pump(shallow jet) and the well pipe
