So far i have been shading my pumpkins with a layer or 2 of reemay directly over the fruit, But im wondering if thats enough shading for them, it appears to allow a good bit of light onto the fruit still. Would it be best to suspend a tarp over the fruit as well? Ive heard of many methods of shading the fruit but just wanted to hear some personal opinions from some growers on here. Thanks-Brandon

I use a couple pcs of remay folded over a bunch of times...need the extra weight so it doesn't blow off it's so light...and I like how it dries out real quick!

White towels or sheets. Just keep them dry.

Thanks for the responses, so the remay will work then, i did notice that it does dry fast, i was surprised. Ive been making sure its held down by rocks especially for the night, as theres been either a groundhog, or deer in the patch twice so far which pinched a few growth tips...

I've been wondering if the sheet will be a problem with misters coming on every 5 minutes - would it keep the pumpkin skin too wet?
