How do you fix a pumpkin that's starting to become a birdbath. The blossom end is growing up while the stem is slowly angling down. I'm afraid the stem might break off eventually if it touches the ground.

I propped one up with sand and dug a trench under stem last year, takes some time and effort but it made the term, check on stem daily and dig more if you have to..Dirty fingernails are a good thing.....

since the stem wants to stay on the ground, whatever you can do to keep the stemm higher than the blossom, do now because soon it will be too big to do anything.

I have 2 pumpkins on the sane plant for some decorative pumpkins. The pumpkin that it's from was a birdbath and both fruits are the same. Blossom end up in the air. Their growing to big for me to do anything about that other than to dig under the vine.

joe richards from illinois dug a hole where the stem sat in undisturbed all season and it grew completely upside down. about a 6' wide flat pancake birdbath all weight with barely a cavity and was 1139 pounds. he laid it down on sand i beieve and then had a big enough hole on the back side to have access for his head and flash light for inspections.
