I have a small wound on my biggest pumpkin that is healed but looks like a hole from a bb or something. It is closed and I thought it would just grow over and close or something. Any ideas? Should I abort this thing or try to turn the wound to the bottom? Is it an insect in there? I have no clue and just kept hoping it would go away, lol.

It's completely sealed up but is a pretty deep wound. There was some scuff marks where the pumpkin rubbed up against the leaf stem before I prunned it. Think it started around one of those scuffs.

what does a borer look like? I have a few beatle like things with yellow and black striped wings that have been showing up in my flowers. Figures the only issue I have is in my biggest pumpkin. Arghhhh

just qoogle squash vine borer, they are black and red. It's their larva that bores into the plants or fruit. Sounds like you are talking about a cucumber beetle. They don't bore holes.

I was looking at the pictures on google and I havent seen any of the borers. Also my pumpkin doesnt have a hole, just an indent that is clean in the middle. I had a small wound where the pumpkin rubbed up against the sharp leaf when it was little and think it might have something to do with that. I don't know what to do. Should I kill it off or wait and see what happens?

Is this pumpkin going to be a model? Just kidding, keep it if it is just an indention.

Rich the bugs that you're describing is the stripped cumber beatles. Get some "Sevin " and follow the instructions on the package. That'll kill the cumber beatles. they can wilt leaves and eat the plant before you know whats happening.

Thanks guys, really thank you. I think it's just an indent(I hope). There is a link to a close up picture of the indent. I have one other pumpkin set but that was my first and is the biggest. I only have one other small female flower on the main vine and it's getting late.
