I need to send in some plant to be tested for YVD. I noticed that the strange yellowing had progressed last night. I cut It off asap. Anyone know of a lab I can send it to?

There's a lab in Westerville some folks use Nic. It's called CLC labs, I think Jerry Rose used either CLC or Calmar for testing you might want to e-mail him. The best part is you won't have to ship it you can drive it over. Here is their website. http://www.syntheticturftesting.com/

I just don't know the leaves were green and healthy yesterday and now another foot of the MV had leaves turn yellow and leathery! I mean what will testing do just tell me what I already know. I need to know how to get rid of this anyway I can. Before it is too late.

I don't think it is pythium or fusarium. It does not even look close to that. Plant does not wilt leaves turn lime green then turn yellow.

Nic, I think you may have a nutrient problem. Too much of one thing or not enought. Get it tested and let us know. Are the veins dark green and yellow between the veins? Bottom line is I would only be guessing without a test.

Can't be deficiency I wouldn't think. And my soil was tested and nothing was way off. The leaves change color over night. The whole leaf not just veins. I cut off all the effected areas at the tip. It is/was progressing from the tip back to old growth.

Oops I put "And my soil was tested and nothing was way off". Before the "leaves change color overnight". I meant the other way around.

Nic, maybe this will help. http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/ look under cucurbit leaf disorders.

Unfortunately, it sounds like an ounce of prevention thing. Best of luck.

I use Merit and Triazicide. The stupid bug probably died after it fed. If it is YVD. I finally got a response from OSU. If the yellowing returns I will send in a sample. He said in the directions send in the whole plant. LOL I don't think he knows the plant is 400 sq ft.

Send in as large of a section as you can with some roots. What I sent was a 5 leaf section with some roots under them that had just turned yellow. Do this on Monday and send it overnight mail. Don't water it or refridgerate it. Get it, box it, mail it. That will keep it from sitting in the lab all weekend and being worthless. I know you want immediate results so that you can save the plant if possible but you really want accurate results for the future. If you get different results than mine I'll be sending mine to OSU. I pulled another today, 556 Lovelace, and tomorrow it will be a 1424.5 Werner.
