In 1997 I grew a 1016, one of the first 1000 pounders on a side vine. Sherry LaRue

Pumpkin Shepherd, I didnt know that 1636 was grown on a side vine, would you have any more info on that?,,, like was it grown off a side vine because the main broke?,,, or if that wasnt the case would you know about how many secondaries up from the stump it was grown off of? Id like to see the vine pattern it was grown from, anyone have that?

Seems like Doc has grown alot of giants off of side vines. Maybe he knows something we don't?

Brooks I just got that off the AGGC. I noticed it because I'm growing the 1375.5 this year and that's what grew the 1636. I love to know more about it too!

The 1636 was grown on the main vine. You are all correct in that the 1375.5 was grown on a secondary vine.

i retrained a secondary to be the new main after a 12' break in main. the closest secondary to the break was then treated like a new main and that tip sent strainght out the same direction i was training my main. just 7 feet of growth before a female appeared. maybe 3 tertiaries turbed into secondaries at each side before the pumpkin on this new main. that grew my 1125 shenoha last year.
