I have one really funky growing fruit. I assume the lobe was deformed as the 3 other total fruits I have had on this plant are\were symetrical. They are long like a torpedo in general, but I assume that's cause I have cheep AG seeds from Lowes. Has anyone ever grown any odd shaped pumpkins? I am not growing for looks or a weigh off but just curious if anyone else gets these. See link for pic.

I think it's just a fluke particular to that seed or batch from a specific pumpkin. I've grown 4 plants from Lowe's AG seed packets and none of them had wierd shape. I just wasn't able to grow them very big.

Do you have any advice on how to get started with premium seed selection for next year? I still don't get the nomenclature. For example, would a "1557 Hilstolsky" that I saw from a diary be the weight of parent seed followed by the original grower "Hilstolsky" of that seed? Is there a section on here I can read about and purchase various seeds? I just see a seed exchange, but have nothing to exchange but I would purchase. Thanks!

There are tons of great people on here that would be happy to set you up with some good seeds come late fall after all the weigh-offs. On here you can get some seeds with great genetics.

Sounds good, thanks Billium. I will be giving away my Lowes flying saucer seeds for free. First come first serve. LOL

Luke...be patient...lot's of generous folks around this site! Pkns are going to weighoff's in October! Seeds might be available a couple months later!! Hope this helps!! Next winter, you will find lots, and lots, of auctions on this website, where you can bid on lots, of HOT seeds!!! All of this auction money goes to help the particular club, fund their weighoff the following year!! Peace, Wayne
