Are there reasons for splits in the fruit? I had my one week old fruit split wide open along the bottom to the point that seeds are exposed. It was 5.2 pounds. Could it be overwatering and/or growing too fast? Once I cut it off I noticed there were also 5 cracks starting along where the vine interfaces with the fruit. I did water significantly more than usual last night and it split sometime between 8:30am and 10:30am this morning. I've never had a fruit grow as well as that one was growing before it split. My biggest pumpkin to date has only been 94 lbs.

hot weather with soil dried out to long and to much water will blow them up almost every time. You have to try and keep your soil resonably moist at all times. No big suddent changes if possible

Endless, sometimes I Think a fruit can split because of genetics also, I had many growers, including myelf grow my 1402 that didnt make it past the 20th day, they would practically look like someone put a m-80 inside them and split all over the entire pumpkin. Weird how they would look when they would split,,alot of them would look like this
