Fruit on a nice healthy plant at 11 ft is now 18 days old and is 74 inches in circumference. Another fruit on the same plant is 3 ft farther down at 14 ft. This second fruit is doing well also, at 39 inches at day 13. The problem in my decision making is the side vines between the two fruits are 5 in number but not that big (maybe 6 ft in length.

Will it make that much of a difference with 3 more ft and set back 6 days in maturity to keep the one farther out or would you go with the nice looking one at 11 ft?

Hey Rocky,
Wish I were you...... I have nothing but two 18 inch kin's. Which one has a better position on the main and better shape? Also up to this point which one seems to be growing faster?

Im not a pro at this but maybe the questions above will help you out some.

Hope you grow a monster!

Martin

Good questions to be asking Martin, both 'kins are positioned fine off the vine.

A few other notes, I believe that world records have been grown as close as 9 ft, so the ftg from stump becomes less of a worry I believe.

Rocky, you had better ask Ned . I think he will lead you in the right direction.

I agree, Ned is a great guy. He told me to take the plant out and grow one that only throws one female on the main so I wouldnt have this issue. He is a good friend.. Now where did I put my file for those seeds.. .
