Quick question. The pumpkin is about 15 days old, today when moving around the garden, I bumped the back end of the pumpkin (blossom end opposite the vine) and knocked the blossom end off. What got knocked off is the wilted female blossom and a knob about 1/2 inch "tall" and the size of a quarter in diameter. I think that maybe these fall off anyway, but really don't remember. The question is did I ruin that pumpkin, where knocking that off will cause it to abort, rot or split later? The area of the pumpkin where that was, is now basically even with the outer skin of the pumpkin. It did weep water when I knocked it off. A picture of what I knocked off can be found at http://picasaweb.google.com/109700817992201470926/Pumpkin#

Thanks

I had that happen once. Put bleach on the end and then a fungal paste. Then a fan to dry the area. You should be fine.

Last year on my 1240 at around 500 pounds that entire thing rotted off. I just made a clean slice to remove the rot and pasted with Captan and no problems after.

should not be a problem ! But i would poss-able put a fan on it & try to keep dry after you water ! I last yr had a racoon put a small scratch on a pumpkin , I did not think no big deal ! but it eventuly rotted threw pumpkin ! If i kept a closer eye i could have saved it ! It turns out it would have taken 2nd place & 500$ at the small weighoff close to me, O well live & learn !! Keep it Dry !!
