In my patch this morning I found three or four leaves on my 498 Van Hook plant that look like this: http://i45.tinypic.com/2rdjnfp.jpg. Is this a developing disease, or simply a result of the 100-degree heat? Thanks.

Looks like physical leaf burn to me due to the high temperatures and not a disease.

Cool, that makes me feel better. I'll try to avoid letting the plants get that hot again.

We had high heat here a week and a half ago- 95+ and I had a lot of that and now that temps have risen again its happening again. I too assumed it was just leaf burn and nothing has gone wrong w/my plants due to it. No disease, just leaf burn- I'll agree w/that.

Try to mist or give the new growth periodic water in the high heat of the day. If you still fry leaves try to keep a few tertiary buds at the tips to use for future leaves to fill in and replace those fried leaves.

Someone mentioned the fact that if you run water from hoses, that have sat out in the heat for most of the day, the first few gallons will burn you, just think what it does to a leaf!!! Flush yer hoses a while b/4 starting watering!!!! Hope this helps!!! Grow em Big! Peace, Wayne
