Was wondering how many of you have used this product and when should I start spraying this to prevent powdery mildew? I never see any visiable powdery mildew in my patch until mid August.

Thanks
Dave

I have always had a huge PM problem every year. Same time as you, mid august.

This year I am applying daconil to the leaves, top and bottom every week

I also spray a product made by Safer on the leaves, top and bottom every week

I am just now starting to apply neem oil to the leaves, top and bottom every week

I have also decided that all three of these products are contact sprays only. After much reading on this web site, just like you I would also like to apply a Systemic to my plant

I have asked this question in the new growers forum
http://www.bigpumpkins.com/msgboard/ViewThread.asp?b=14&p=352387

I ordered the Eagle today from the e-b-y site
60 bucks with the shipping!!!

One more thing I should tell you. I have no overhead watering this year

If I end the season with no PM then the investment in the Eagle was worth it.

Happy spraying and
Good luck

I plan to start using the Eagle Systemic as soon as I get it in the mail. I want to get the eagle juice into the plant way before any signs of PM are visible

Hey Dave, hope you are doing OK...

I'm using the same product as you this year and Tom advised me to use it every 2 weeks once the plant started to vine. I think that I have applied twice so far and another application coming up soon.

It was suggested to start using before anything shows up, so I'd put it in your program now.

1 oz per gallon of water.....talk to you later.

Hi Glenn, Thanks for the info. This stuff won't effect growth, will it?

I dunno folks. I know PM is a real problem. I grow pumpkins for fun. I don't have kids at home anymore but I do have grand kids that visit often and I have friends and a wife and a dog. I just can't comprehend spraying these incredibly toxic chemicals around my yard. I'll stick with sulfur, copper, neem and other organics. Yeah I know they are toxic too at certain levels but they aren't anywhere close to daconil or bonide. You might want to check out the pesticideinfo.org listing on these chemicals before using and then take precautions as necessary. I know it is all well intended and I intend no slight but I think I'll skip that invite for punkin pie this fall.

hey cm from bc neem is wicked mildew killer may even be the best and safe dont appologize for suggestion. neem is still way under rated for what it does.
however bonide sells neem product so please identify when saying brand name it can be confusing since bonide make a number of product safe and all.
