Is terminating the main vine a good thing to do right now my fruit is about the size of a basketball. So I'M guessing the fruit wont abort or the chances of the fruit going bad is minimal. What Iwould like to know is when and if you should terminate the main vine its growing quite long and the fruits are already set about 11 feet from the stump. The rest of the plants vines are deadheaded and the leaves are healthy. Also when will the fruits go into the rapid growth stage. I have 4 plants and all seem to be the same size. Thanks for the help and have a great 4th of July. Remember the War vets.

I like to get 8 secondaires on each side past the fruit before deadheading it,,,,if you got that many you can go ahead and cut the main off,,, that said some people leave the mains on all season,,,
your fruit will hit that fast growing spert around day 25-30,,, I'm talking 20-30 pound gains,,,, where you are at I'm guessing day 10 to 15? you can expect your first ten pound day soon...

Good Luck,,,,

I would just let your main run; you can have it wrap around the outside of the patch if you are short on room / going to run into the lawn or what-not.

I'm letting mine fill in a spot where a few secondaries turned into flower clusters.
