Wondering when the heck mains usually stop growing? Like is there a time when they slow down? Never grown vining plants before except cucumbers. This year is my first year at giant marrow. I have two plants. The bigger one is crazy. Its nearing 27'. Two marrows an inch long at the 22' and 21' mark. Arent these things suppose to slow down when the fruit sets or no? Should I just leave it be or bury the tip if I can get these two marrows to take the pollination here in a week or so when they are ready?

I was told they really slow down to a crawl when fruit gains are very high.

the main vine will never stop growing until one of four things happen 1. you terminate it by cutting off the tip 2. rabbit or whistle pig eats the tip. 3. jack frost pays you a visit. 4. by accident you spray round up to close to the plants tip.

Well thats great I'm going to have to have a truck load of dirt delivered to bury all these vines. I'm already running out of places to get dirt lol. Would be nice to get one to set on this huge main. Its been a hard hard growing season. Everything in this area is diseased from all the rain we had weeks ago. Trees down at the park all have some kind of target spot blight or something, my red raspberries came down with cane blight and even the lilacs in my neighbors yard are showing signs of something. Tips of the leaves are yellow-ish. Winning the war with cucumber and squash beetles now SVB's have been appearing. I thought gardening was suppose to relax you? lmao
