Tone, I was just looking at your diary and you said that you were trying to cull down to one pumpkin. Here are my thoughts-
The 1st set is in a very bad position on the main and it is already deeply ribbed which could lead to a rib spilt later on.
The 2nd set looks very healthy, It has a great shape and unlike the 1st set it has a great position.
If I were you I think I would go with the second set. Just as long as it is still growing. But again these are just my thoughts.

That's what my gut tells me but there's always that chance that the second will abort and then I will be kicking myself. It shouldn't abort, I have a healthy plant other than beat up leaves from some of the storms. Thanks for the thoughts, this is suppose to be a fun hobby but it sometimes causes me stress. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Tone, Hey neighbor, (I'm in Springfield) My thoughts exactly about the stress. I love it but am definitely stressed about it. Hopefully it will be worth all the hard work when we get our picture in the paper with a gigantic pumpkin.

Went back and forth with this all day and I am going to try to save the first. Shazzy made a good point, try to move it a little at a time and if you break the stem then go with the back up. I cut some tap roots today and the secondary that was at the stem and moved it about an inch. I will stick with this a little each day and see if I can't get it closer to 90 degrees with the main.

Tone I agree with the Shaz. If you adjust the position very little and let the second one grow for a couple of weeks. Then, make the decision. You can sleep at night. Blessings buddy
