This may sound funny but…. I found a great way to cut males and third stage growth. I was measuring my plant the other day and by accident found out that the edge of a 25’ tape measure could cut pumpkin flesh. Now I cut off all unwanted growth with my retractable pumpkin trimmer made by Stanley. The sharp edge saws through leafs and flowers with ease. A good tape can reach 10 feet with out breaking. Plenty in my little patch.

Considering that I am a contractor one of those handy "Pumpkin trimmers" is usually on my side,I guess I'll have to check it out.

we have been fortunate not to have unwanted growth of flowers or third stage vines because we pinch them off every vine esch time we vine bury.

I would love to pinch all mine off early but I am afraid my leaf life might not be as long as yours. I am trying to keep some young growth in reserve in case my patch gets athletes foot.

Yes we are creative people. After talking to my farmer friend (whos land I am growing on) about all the stuff I use on the pumpkins I asked if could use a bucket that was of to the side of the big garden we have with him. He said "sure, as long as you dont put any radioative s*** in it"
