If I can manage to get a huge sized marrow for the state fair weigh-off around here how exactly are these things entered in a fair? I'm not going to get screwed and have to compete my oversized zucchini with the giant green squash am I? Never entered a veggie in a fair before thats why I'm asking. They have "marrow" classes or would a marrow go into like a class with zucchini's? Any help on this would be appreciated.

The Ohio State Fair, I'm not sure. But the Stark County Fair has a booklet with all the different categories in it. Some are categories are judged on looks and some are judged by largest. You must have a paid fair membership ($20) and your entry form in by Aug 14th I think was the date I read.
I'm thinking the Ohio State Fair would also have a booklet with all the categories similarily to a county fair.

Never knew about the Ohio State Fair to tell you the truth. Think I'm going to go for the Stark County fair and for weight of marrow and zucchini. Not going for looks because marrows aren't known for winning a beauty contest lol. Possibly the Wayne County fair too. Not sure if they have agriculture or not. I know the fair is big into livestock. I'll have to ask the guys around P. Graham Dunn where I work I think most of them do stuff at that fair. The marrow is reaching 25' I'm hoping for something good. Thanks for your help! :)

Now that I'm home I do have my Stark Booklet in front of me:
"The Bigger The Better Category" Largest
122 Cabbage 123 Onion 124 Pepper 125 Potato 126 Tomato 127 Gourd 128 Muskmelon 129 Watermelon 130 Heaviest Pumpkin or Squash 131 Sunflower Head only 132 Tallest Sunflower ----
No mentions of large zucchini or large marrow so I'd definitely check with Wayne County; they do have a hort building, I've been to that fair several times but never entered anything.

Is there a class/category called other? That's where I'd put it. If not they need to add that category. Go to the Alaska State Fair web site and take a look at the Exhibitors Guide. Hope I helped, Scott.
