For this time of year in Ontario my plants are huge and very aggressive. Daily growth on the 4 plants is almost more than I can handle. All plants have fruit set ranging from 11-16' the oldest being 9 days. Of 10 attempts I have had 2 aborts and all others look healthy but all have dismal benchmark numbers. My 9 day fruit being 18" cir and a couple 8 day fruit @ 12-14" We have had a ton of rain in the last 7 days and it has been cold @ night. Trying to make sense of this and convince myself that everything is fine.

day 10 measurements don't mean much. Day 20 measurements are more important, but again, not the most important numbers. days 30, 40, and 50 are waaaaay more important. Many pumpkins can't start slow and put on the lbs in the middle. I believe the 901 hunt's largest fruit in the 1600 lb range was 52" day 20. On day 10, my largest fruit on day 10 was 28", it grew my smallest pumpkin ever. My slowest day 10 pumpkin, grew my biggest fruit ever. Hang in there.

Nope. My 1449.5 was only estimated at 99 lbs on day 20. It took off after that! Plant size may also dictate size. Are your plants still actively growing? Growth juices may be going into vine growth instead of fruit growth. Give it some time. I think the 1677 Hunt was only like 53 inch CC on day 20.

No, IMO, the early benchmarks don't mean much. I've seen many times where a growers smallest day 20 pumpkin, well under the benchmarks, ended the season as their largest. You will also find that some 1500+ lbers have fallen well short of the early benchmarks. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Guys thanks! I feel much better. I am new @ this and have put a lot of pressure on myself to make a big splash in my rookie year and stress about everything. Yes Jason, plants are growing like mad. in 2-3 weeks my 900sq' plots will be completely full.

Day 40 and day 50 mean something. 10 20 and 30 day measurements, I don't think they mean much.
