I have set two pumpkins on my plant. Do i now prune any new growth, flowers, etc.....to direct the energy to the pumpkins?

It all depends on how big your plant is, everyone has a differnet opinion on this one but a general rule is side vines at least 10ft long, no third stage growth anywhere, and all vines terminated by the first of August. But this is all personal preference.

Watch out for that 3rd stage growth. It will take over if you let it. Nip them out as soon as you see them.

what is considered 3rd stage growth ? Like suckers besides the main an secondaries

on the secondaries at every leaf node there will be another vine starting, these are 3 stage or tertiary growth.

like cb said you will see growth from the secondaries, leaves and a small vine starting I cull them when they are small lots of folks on here have given me good knowledge, join the chat sometime karelin.... great place to get quick advice and meet some good folks.
