?I was wondering what type of bad conditions everyone faces with growing?

As for me its the following

1) theft of plants.

2) Theft of fruits

3) idiot spraying weed killer on plants arg

4) morron stepping on plants

So what bad types of growing conditions have u guys had this yr?

Over the past few days the sun has been blazing. Just my luck. Its pollination time. I've been battling with trying to get a good set on the main vine. Also the humidity has been a problem with wilting of the leaves.

I had the dog running in the patch and snapping off the vine too. Now I have everything fenced off but the moron who manages my patch can still get in there.

Wind is our biggest problem. It seem to be high everyday. We're not happy when they rip out the vines.

I'm on a 45 degree Mountain. with 6" of soil beside the north atlantic ocean which gives me a nice constant blanket of fog. My day time temps are only 65 and night 40 (mid summer). Also I get only about 50% light through the day as in the city I'm 10' away to the east of a 5 story apt. building and to the west a power plant with 1000' smoke stacks. My only consolation is that in these conditions my pumpkin's never get very big which makes it easier to remove them from the mountain side with the help of sherpas

Water restrictions, no rain, gophers, birds, ground squirrels, tweekers, EPA Police, little kids, and now I have to go to Hawaii for a week for work. Someone want to come over and nurse my plants while I'm gone. Free BEER!

Plants frozen on June 18. They're alive, but most main vine leaves are dead.

If it's cold, they don't grow. Simple as that.

95 % of plants drowned , 115 days since March 1, only 3 dry, several freezing days third week of May, Average day time high in May was approx 50 degrees in june about 53 degrees. last two months 10-15 degrees below normal

I hate the NW weather

Job here and wifes grandkids. Any sugesstions on where to move and retire. Cold and hot no problem for me. Rain and clouds suck. Humidity I can do without. No future weather discussions allowed on this site. I take High BP meds already. It's so bad here an e-mail came yesterday from Pumpkin Dean asking if I knew what the yellow gold circle was in the sky. Mirror reflected laser beam off of ice crystals or something. Didn't know sun existed any more.

Warning for NW growers: saw Halberts patch yesterday. Not really a patch but a big a_ _ greenhouse. Plants were bigger than anything I have seen out here in September. Pollinations at 16 to 18 ft. Stan and CRB; I think he's serious about this. Lots of spare time is a beautiful thing with a 30 by 100 plus ft greenhouse. He's talking smack already. He will be held accountable. After gasing all his plants last year he must have learned something.

The last 7 days actual highs: 94, 97, 99, 95, 99, 99, 99... and I'm pollinating and can't get anything to set. Last good rain was May 19th. The weather sounds like it's taking its tolls on everyone this year.

Well lets see:

Rented home clear across state last July and rototilled up weed riddled backyard.

Added ammendments (lots of composted horse poop)

Planted cover crop

Record rain in May (June sucks too)

Have about 5 inches of semi decent top soil then hard pan

One of the best looking plants at this point in the season in 10+ years of high plains desert growing; So were happy!

horse whisperer - sorry to hear about your plant drownings. I may not get a pumpkin set this year because everything is growing so slow for some reason and it may be too hot at pollination time. However I do have a plant off your 544 seed so maybe you can have some Southern offspring if things work out.
