It looks like a fungus called leaf spot to me. Get some Daconil and begin a weekly spray program.

The leaf tears look more like physical damage then bugs to me, however bugs could be taking small bites of the leaves when they are small and as the leaf grows it tears itself.
To me the yellow spots seem to be common on early leaves and then the plants out grow this spotting. Is the spotting occurring on all the leaves? How long is the vine and when was it planted?
Also, I recommend checking out www.Team-Pumpkin.org there is a lot of information about what to be looking for at different times of the season. Look under the “Season Timeline” and “In the Patch Now” sections for some helpful advice. You can also e-mail questions you may have.
Lastly, if you want you can take advantage of the upcoming patch tour this Sunday if you want a chance to talk with local growers and see what is going on in some patches around the area. There is a link on the Team-Pumpkin.org home page with contact information if you are interested.

Thanks guys
Newman,it appears to to leaf spot to me and will be switching to danconil instead of the stuff i am currently using because i started spraying before this leaf spot occured and it still happened

Matt D, The spotting occurs only on the leafs when there fully develoedp and not when there young so i dont know what that means. The vine is only about 2 feet long and it was planted May,19.A little late but still trying to get a handle on when to plant. Thanks again and will keep posted

I have noticed the same thing with the yellow spotting on fully mature leaves when the plants are the size you are talking about. So, I do not think it is a reason for major concern but keep an eye on it. I am not sure what goes on with the plants when they are small but this yellow spotting seems common on the first few leaves in many cases.

Great attention to detail and feel free to re-post if things change but right now I do not think it is a disease, which I think was your main question.

Looks like scab to me from the looks of your other picture. Last year this was the first fungus to hit my patch, the yellow spots then turn into small holes.

Croley your leaf damage isn't contagious if it is what the other growers thought - insects and heat. There is still some good green to it so imo you should keep it.

Croley, I agree with Newman on that, you definitely have some kind of insect damage there. You might be able to find out what insect is doing that damage (if you cant catch it during the day light hrs) by checking at night with a flash light or maybe late evening or at first light in the morning, but something is definitely getting its belly full on your leaves.
